Tiger Woods was once again his usual self for most of the past weekend with his ball striking and overall iron and driving game. The one major issue for Tiger was on and around the greens as his short game really struggled. Because of his struggles with putting and even chipping, Tiger did not come out with his usual victory on Sunday.

There was no signature moment for Woods on Sunday as there so often is. It could have been an eagle putt after making the green on two at the eleventh, or a comeback on the eighteenth. Yang, on the other hand, remained relatively undaunted by the gravity of the situation he was in, and came up with some great shots.

His chip in from sixty feet for eagle was one memorable shot, but even more memorable may have been his approach shot on eighteen with a three utility club. His shot went over a tree and about six feet from the cup for a birdie putt which sealed the victory as Tiger had to make in a chip on eighteen just to stay in contention, which, he didn’t.

Many times a golf round is filled with frustration due to poor shots or miscues that you know you could have prevented. The best way to minimize your mistakes on the course is to practice off it. While many golfers go to a driving range and use their golf mats to practice hitting long irons and woods, they do not get to the golf putting green often enough. By utilizing the short game and getting more one putts instead of two and three putts, your game will certainly improve.

“Golf is a good walk spoiled.” ~Mark Twain

By using limited flight balls, a round will become more enjoyable. Going into the backyard and more consistently practicing with a golf alignment mat will limit your mistakes and make your golf round much more enjoyable.
