Improving the Short Game
July 7th, 2008 | By Jay McGrathThe best way to improve your short game is to take time to work on your wedges and short iron shots.
“Usually when I’m playing decent, I’m nervous.” -Tom Watson
“Instead of putting pressure on myself and thinking, “I’ve got to make this shot”, I just thought, “Go ahead and make it.” It’s a subtle difference but a big one.” -Corey Pavin
The approach game and putting is difficult and can be the most nerve wracking part of a round. The easiest way to be comfortable with this aspect of the game is to practice right in the backyard with outdoor golf driving mats that also can serve as golf driving range mats or golf pitching mats along with limited flight balls that will show the shot’s path without the added distance.
